In the early 60’s the Hawaiian Fashion Guild started a campaign to bolster the sales of Aloha shirts. By 1966 Hawaiians had embraced the tradition of “Aloha Friday” and people working at businesses across the state were donning their favorite Aloha shirts to work to kick off the weekend. The idea didn’t make its way to the mainland until the 90’s what is now known to many as “Casual Friday”. If you get to dress down at the end of the week – you can thank Hawaii for that.
