Let me tell you a bit about myself. My name is Sarah Moore. DBA: The Conscious Sea. I’m a sustainable, environmental and eco-friendly textile artist. I’ve been actively selling my art since 2015 on Oahu, recently I moved to Kauai 8 months ago, September 2024, with my husband and son. I was a vendor last week at the Princeville Night Market. I make a variety of macrame and textile/fabric hangings. I make large to small crystal moon and hoop hangings with hand-dyed silk and recycled-cotton cotton rope. I make unique macrame hangings that are at times sculptural and incorporate driftwood or found bamboo and all natural beads made from coconut shells, avocado seeds (I make myself), kukui nut shell beads (I make myself), wood, and sea shells (cowry and puka). Additionally, I curate all my materials from small women-owned and family-owned businesses. My small business supports other small businesses. I use recycled cotton rope that is made from cotton garments that would have gone to a landfill, up-cycled sari silk (scraps also destined for the landfill) most of which I hand-dye myself naturally with food scraps and plant dyes, plant-based cords (hemp, linen and ramie), and as mentioned above natural beads, driftwood, shells and crystals. I try to make things that people can feel good about putting in their home or gifting, something natural, up-cycled, handmade and non-toxic, with a touch (or a lot) of bohemian.
